Bad bad day

Nothing riles me up more than the short notices i seem to be getting these days. 1 day's notice?? two day's notice ?? for setting 3 packs of 6 (i.e. 18 questions and answers) with marking schemes.
Today I had to justify some of my dept staff not being able to meet that short notice. I received the sweet letter of reprimand yesterday (dated 20th October!!) 4 months after that deadline (3 July) and in between not a word or a reminder?? Where were they in all this time?

I have been tracking the movement of these so-called short notices and sometimes it's ridiculously mad

here goes:

the letter arrives from Putrajaya .. arrives at the admin's post in 3 days.. they get stuck at the bosses' P.A.'s office before it gets into the bosses' office for their attention..that's probably another 3 days!.. then it goes into the department's post box and sits there for a day or 2.. before the department clerk gets it to me..all in all a staggering week of delay in the campus itself? by then the deadline is likely to be 2 days away. How to acceed to the demands from up there in Putrajaya?

God save me from the vicissitudes of life!

It's the same in schools... OK maybe on a smaller & lesser scale. Just the other day, we had to stay back for our staff meeting. The notice was put up on the very same day. Looks like we are expected to drop everything every time we are summoned... never mind if we have earlier appointments, commitments, or school-going children waiting for you to fetch, etc etc :-(
